utah SCCA

I attended my first SCCA on Labor Day at the E Center. It was awesome and I learned a lot about my car. Just ask any of the really good drifters and most will say that they started out doing SCCA first then got into drifting. Met two other Corolla guys and I plan to do more events in the future. I highly suggest a lot of you guys that are learning, to do some SCCA (grip) events to learn the limits of your cars, it really helps. Here is the website UTAHSCCA
One of the things I learned from the event was that my car has either a broken LSD or Open. My VIN says LSD and the Diff says LSD but it acts like it's open. All this time I was trying to drift with an open/broken diff.....so that being said, never trust your VIN especially on a 20+ year car.

Sounds like a great time, I would have been there were it not for the fuse/ground issue and new suspension adjustment. I think I might on 10.24 at MMP though. Grip in the morning and drift in the evening at MMP with two different facilitators at the same facility, lol. Sounds like a good time.

WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE IF PLACES STOCKED ALTERNATORS FOR OUR CARS LOL. LOOKS LIKE IT WAS FUN

I had alternator problems lastyear, I guess I took the last one in the state....sorry bud! What sucks is that I work weekends so I don't know if I can attend anymore SCCA events. I sure am going to try though

Mark, your 20Year-old LSD is probably just used. Rebuild it.

THANK YOU so much for your testimonial. I tried to tell them. They didn't listen. Maybe someone with slightly less skill than I (I mean, barely less, if any) can give a better perspective on learning to drive.

I wan't always like this. I started somewhere too. But, I kinda started autocross about the same time as I started sucking at drifting. Anyway, that morning grip/afternoon drift sounds delightful. I'm sending out a mass text.

So wait, is there a morning autoX event the same day as the drift event? WHAT TIME AND HOW MUCH AND OMGWTFBBQ?!?!!

No seriously, for real? How much and what time is it? Cause I have the day off and could totally use a good full day of driving before going to a halloween party that night.

i'd go but i doubt ill be able to afford gas for a hole day worth of driving

check the www.utahscca.com Oct 24th and 25th scca event. OUR EVENT is Oct 24th at 5-9pm. So that means grip in the morning then drift at night. If your car can handle it of course. If it can't just go to our event....hehe

so what time does mmp open on the 24th for all this ? I need to let my ride know so i can get there and i can get in? Also, do they allow cameras? I would like to take videos and pictures so i can continue learning and get the hang of things from some good guys. Thanks. Let me know the details about that day! Laters Much appreciated!!

BTW, SCCA at MMP was awesome. I decided to throw on my "new" tires for the event (Champions?) they were garbage! I was all over the place. I threw on my bald Azenis and they gripped way better. Anyways, it was a lot of fun! Not the greatest course layout but good to be out and racing instead of working!

How did you do at AutoX?

First in class in STX! But I was also the only one in STX, Ryan, in the Mazda MX and the Mini S vert were running "Open" that day. But I'm hooked! I'd gonna try to run much more often next season!
